Claire Legallet, DVM

Dr. Legallet was born and raised in the Bay Area. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania before completing her veterinary degree at Kansas State University. She went on to pursue internships at Texas A&M University, Louisiana State University and a private practice in Ottawa, Canada before completing the Small Animal Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist (CVA) Program at the Chi Institute.
Dr. Legallet is thrilled to be part of the WAVES team and provide excellent care to the community. As an emergency veterinarian, she finds deep fulfillment in supporting pets and their owners through their most stressful moments.
Her professional interests include wound care and pain management, and she has published research on surgery and pain management in dogs and cats.
Outside of the clinic, she volunteers at the animal shelter, practices clicker training, and enjoys hiking, traveling, learning new languages and spending time with friends, family, and her own furry companions.
Anna Nomura, VMD, MS

Dr. Anna Nomura grew up in the East Bay and knew from the age of ten that veterinary medicine was her calling. She earned her BA in Biology from Bowdoin College before going on to receive her VMD from the University of Pennsylvania, followed by a one-year rotating specialty/emergency internship at VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists. She has been part of the emergency medicine community in the Bay Area since 2014.
Dr. Nomura is Fear Free certified, reflecting her commitment to minimizing fear, anxiety, and stress in every patient she treats. She believes in the profound bond between people and their pets — a bond she has experienced firsthand through the animals who have shaped her own family’s life.
Outside the hospital, she can be found riding her horse Sugarman, tending her garden, or adventuring outdoors with her family and dogs.
Alyssia Gabriel, DVM

Dr. Alyssia Gabriel received her veterinary degree from Western University of Health Sciences. Born and raised in San Jose, she returned back home to the Bay Area to complete a rotating small animal internship in the East Bay. Her special interests are in polytraumas, sepsis, cardiac emergencies, and ophthalmology. She is both Low Stress Handling-Silver Level and Fear-Free Certified, reflecting her commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.
Outside the hospital, Dr. Gabriel enjoys cooking, traveling, and is a dedicated fan of F1 racing and the 49ers. At home, she shares her life with her husband, her two lovable pit bulls named Crew and Gigi, and Meeko, a cat who proudly runs the house as its matriarch.
Erin Kishi, DVM, DACVS-SA

Dr. Erin Kishi earned her veterinary degree from UC Davis and completed a surgical residency at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. She became a Diplomate of the College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2017. Following her residency, Dr. Kishi remained on faculty as a clinical instructor for one year before joining a large multi-specialty hospital in Seattle.
In 2019, Dr. Kishi moved back to the Bay Area and is proud to continue caring for pets in the East Bay community.
Dr. Kishi’s professional interests include oncologic, endocrine, and reconstructive surgery, as well as fracture repair and other orthopedic procedures.
Outside of work, Dr. Kishi enjoys skiing, swimming, hiking, and kayaking. She likes to spend her free time traveling with her family.
Alice Wang, DVM, MS, DACVIM (SAIM)

Dr. Alice (Zhe) Wang grew up in a small town in eastern mainland China. She has always had a deep love for animals and the people who care for them. She received her bachelor’s degree in veterinary science from Nanjing Agricultural University before coming to the United States to pursue advanced veterinary training. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from UC Davis, completed a small animal rotating internship at Kansas State University, and went on to complete an internal medicine residency and Master of Science in Clinical Science at Colorado State University. Before transitioning to private practice, Dr. Wang had a strong foothold in academia, contributing more than 10 peer-reviewed publications to the veterinary literature.
Dr. Wang is board-certified in Small Animal Internal Medicine by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) and is fluent in both English and Mandarin. Her clinical interests span the full breadth of internal medicine, with particular interest in endocrine and immune-mediated diseases. She is passionate about the diagnostic complexity these cases offer and is committed to delivering thoughtful, individualized care to every patient and family she works with.
Outside of work, Dr. Wang is a gym enthusiast and an avid hiker. At home, she shares her space with Nagi – her boyfriend’s cat and a happy, sneezing-prone companion living her best life with chronic rhinitis.

王哲医生成长于中国大陆东部的一座小城。她自幼热爱动物及其背后每一个关爱它们的家庭。她在南京农业大学取得兽医学学士学位后，赴美深造，先后在加州大学戴维斯分校获得兽医博士学位（DVM），在堪萨斯州立大学完成小动物全科实习，并在科罗拉多州立大学完成小动物内科住院医师培训及临床科学硕士学位。在进入私人诊疗领域之前，王博士在学术界发表了超过10篇同行评审的学术论文。
王哲医生是美国兽医内科学院（ACVIM）认证的小动物内科专科医生，能够流利使用中英文与客户沟通。她的临床兴趣涵盖内科学的各个领域，尤其专注于内分泌疾病及免疫介导性疾病。她热衷于复杂病例的诊断思维，致力于为每一位患者及其家属提供细致、个性化的优质医疗服务。
工作之余，王哲医生是健身房的常客，她也热爱户外徒步。她与男友的猫咪 Nagi 共同生活 ——一只性格开朗、虽时常打喷嚏却依然活力满满的慢性鼻炎小勇士。
Alana Kuzmik, DVM, DACVIM (oncology)

Dr. Alana Kuzmik was born and raised in Los Angeles. She moved across the country to attend Vassar College in New York, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Art History and played on the rugby team. After college she moved to Boston, where she gained her initial experience in the veterinary field as an oncology assistant at Angell Animal Medical Center. Dr. Kuzmik went on to attend Colorado State University for veterinary school, followed by a rotating internship in medicine and surgery at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital. She completed her residency in medical oncology at the University of Minnesota, and finally returned to California to be closer to her family. Over the years she and her husband have accumulated three cats: Tulip, Threodore and Fourrest. In her free time, Dr. Kuzmik enjoys spending time with her family, competing in Olympic-style weightlifting, skiing, and baking bread.
Melissa Sparks, DVM

Dr. Sparks grew up in rural Northern California and was a science nerd from an early age. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology and a minor in Physics from UC Santa Cruz, before going on to receive her veterinary degree from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. She has spent most of her career in general and specialty emergency medicine, with additional surgical experience gained through high-volume spay-neuter practice.
Dr. Sparks is both Fear Free and Low-Stress Handling Certified. She is passionate about reducing fear, anxiety and stress for all pets receiving care. Her special interests are critical care, anesthesia, multimodal analgesia, endocrine diseases, and spectrum of care.
Outside the hospital, she can be found cheering on the Golden State Valkyries with her wife, swing dancing, attending book club, and singing in a local choir.

Dr. Gordon especially enjoys helping families navigate the complex decisions that come with a new cancer diagnosis and identifying treatment options that best fit their goals and circumstances.
Ruben Carlos

Ruben has worked in emergency and specialty veterinary medicine since 2014. Prior to entering the veterinary field, he spent eight years as an operations manager. His passion for animal care began early through volunteer work with Pets in Need and a local pet store, where he developed a deep appreciation for the human animal bond.
With extensive experience in hospital operations, team development, and client service, Ruben is committed to supporting high quality patient care and a strong, collaborative hospital culture. Having long been involved in operational leadership, he now continues this work as Hospital Director.
When he’s not at the hospital, Ruben enjoys the beach, plant collecting, hiking, and spending time with his 4 dogs and with friends and family.

Dr. Truong earned her undergraduate degree from UCLA and her DVM from UC Davis. She has a strong passion for emergency medicine and enjoys helping pets and their families through urgent medical situations.

Bay Area native Evan Hendrickson earned his Animal Science degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and became a Licensed Veterinary Technician in 2014. With more than 15 years of specialty practice leadership experience, he is passionate about supporting veterinary teams and delivering excellent patient care.
